Skimming Mortar

Natural Calk Skimming Mortar is designed for smoothing uneven and non-uniform surfaces, to be applied before interior or exterior finishes. It is ideal for correcting surface irregularities and inconsistencies on rough masonry, as well as for filling and patching.

Produced with wood-fired magnesium lime putty, in accordance with UNI EN 459-1 standards and naturally aged in tanks, the mortar is mixed with selected aggregates, without the addition of cement or chemical additives.

Scope and Product Application

To obtain a homogeneous mixture, mechanically stir Natural Calk Skimming Mortar with a low-speed mixing paddle. Apply in one or more coats as needed, optionally embedding mesh for plasters or insulation systems. Application is done using a steel trowel or spatula, with final finishing using a sponge or steel float.

This mortar can be used in the Tillica Pasta system as a preparatory layer on old walls, aiming at levelling and unifying surfaces that are uneven after removing compromised finishing layers affected by moisture and mould. This removal step is essential to open the pores of the masonry and eliminate mould trapped between old, non-breathable paint and finish layers.

Natural Calk Skimming Mortar is also suitable for:

  • Interior or exterior surfaces of new walls
  • Insulated panel systems
  • Interior or exterior surfaces of old walls
